I do indeed. When a tree has to be felled, sometimes that tree is part of the family. What better way to preserve those memories for the whole family than with a set of prints made directly from the tree.
The prints are made from trees that have been felled by the local authority as they are deemed unsafe, or have blown down in the wind.
If I manage to salvage one or two interesting looking pieces, they are left to dry and then cut into slices.
The slices then undergo a lot of preparation to make them perfectly smooth before raising the grain.
Test prints are made with surplus paper, the ink gets mixed, and the editions get printed by hand.
Every effort is made to accurately photograph the final product to capture the detail, paper and colour.
Variations such as screen brightness, device type and your environment, may cause the colours to display slightly differently.
Most colours are mixed at the time of printing so are completely unique to that moment. Although, colours can be matched by commission.
Currently the prints are only sold online and at local craft markets. If you are interested in stocking them, contact me here.
Unfortunately not yet – hopefully one day!
